Getting Focused

So as some of you know recently I had to go to the doctor to get a cough checked that had been bothering me.  Well while I was there I had something knock me square in the head!  Getting on the scale was a real shocker.  I mean I know I’m not 20 years old anymore, and that with time usually comes extra pounds, but I had topped off at a number I was just not comfortable with!  140 lbs!  At only 5’2″ that puts me on the heavier side of healthy.  Now it wasn’t that much of a shocker in the sense that I knew I was putting on weight, no matter what I tried to not put it on.  But it has jump started me into really getting focused and trying even harder to lose 10 lbs.  So as of last Monday, I am on a healthier eating habit, more fruits and veggies than ever and less processed foods.  Also I am actively trying to get in exercise at least four times a week.  And here is how I’m doing so far…

Week One:  Two days of over 45 minutes of walking/running, and one day of 20 minutes of walking.

Week Two:  So far three continuous days of 45 minutes walking/running (and planning on another two days at least).

My way of cooking has changed.  I am trying to serve less meat on our plates and fill up with more fruit and veggie choices.

I go back to the doctor in two to three weeks and I will post my weight results.  Unfortunately it is always easier going on than coming off and I have never really had the good fortune of being able to drop weight easily.  So fingers crossed the running/walking helps jumpstart my metabolism.

How are your good health intentions coming along for the year?

    Faith,
I commend you for sharing your personal challenges. Noone is perfect and you are brave to admit your imperfections. What I find very helpful in keeping the extra pounds off (for me personally) is to eat smaller portions. Yes of course a good diet and exercise is important. . . but even if you didn’t change your diet and just ate less food (smaller portions) you would see a difference just by doing that alone. I love your body right now. . . but of course YOU have to be comfortable in your own skin and I totally understand that. . . so here’s sending you good thoughts to reach your goal.
