I have a pretty purple and white Giant beach cruiser with a basket that I was going to ride. Everyone I spoke to had the same reaction: “You’re riding 28 miles on a beach cruiser??? Oh my…” So Saturday arrives freezing cold, windy and rainy… and I try to keep the positive thoughts running through my head. I quickly realize I am the only beach cruiser out of over 2000 bikes… not good! They obviously know something I don’t LOL Turns out the route took us along 14 miles of hills and curves and my bike could barely manage to keep up on some of them. But in the back of my mind I just kept thinking of everyone who donating to my fundraising goal and I did not want to let them down! Even though I had to walk my bike on a few of the tough hills, I did manage to finish the entire race… on my trusty but very heavy beach cruiser :) As I came across the finish line I hear over the loud speakers… “congrats to Faith… and she’s cruising along on her cruiser!”

What a great feeling of accomplishment! Even though I wanted to cry at times, I kept the goal in mind, and I was so happy when I crossed that finish line! Thanks to everyone who sponsored my husband and/or myself, as together we were the 2nd highest fundraiser of the whole event, raising $1200! Next year we’re going to do it again and try to beat $1200 for the charity… AND I will be on a much lighter better suited bike LOL Here’s a pic from the end of the race….

He was living in a house with two guys who didn’t take care of him or give him very much attention. We finally convinced them after a year of knowing about him that he would be better off with us! The poor thing was never even given a name! After spending a few hours with him we quickly found out that he is a little escape artist so we named him Harry Houdini, or Houdi Man for short. He has adapted very well, is super tame, and so sweet. He already comes whenever I call him and loves to play. I’m going out this week to pick up a new larger cage for him so he has even more room to play. He has the full run of the scrap book room when we’re home and only has to live in his cage on Tuesday and Wednesday’s while we’re both at work. I don’t want to risk leaving him in the room all day in case he finds something to get into or chew…

In sad news though we lost a family member too. Pirelli who I hand raised from 8 days old has gone to live with two friends of ours in Wickenburg. They have one female cat who is about Pirelli’s age and they were looking for a companion for their girl Mrs. We are hoping that after getting used to the change that Pirelli is much happier since he doesn’t seem to get along with other boy cats. We were constantly having fights between all of the boys! So far he’s not enjoying his new home but I knew that was going to happen. Most animals don’t like change LOL. He’s been there for one week so far. I am going to head up this next week to visit him. I am sad but I am also hoping he’s happier there. I want to do what’s best for him…

Jack committed to doing a 70 mile charity bike ride for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and has raised over $500 already! I am so proud of him! Last night we were talking and I said I would like to help but I can’t ride 70 miles. It turns out there is a 28 mile option as well. I quickly signed up and have committed to raising $150! This will be the longest ride I have ever done on my cruiser and I will need to train a bit over the next couple months so I am ready for the ride. I hope I can count on your support as I am going to need it! It will be tough for me to complete that many miles on my cruiser bike but with all you supporting and cheering me on, I know I can do it! We’ve lost two girls at work so that might mean a few extra work days for me coming up this month to help out… I am no longer working Monday’s at Monkey Pants which I love! It’s nice to have an extra “weekend” day to get things caught up before going to work. I am working Tuesday and Wednesday’s 10 am to 6 pm at the moment and loving it! Stop in and see me sometime… there are great happy hour deals all day from 10 am to 7 pm!

Tonight we’re heading out to Okelley’s bar in Mesa with a few friends for some drinks and live music. I also am cooking for a few of us before we go… got bloody mary’s on the menu as well as some mexican food :) Not sure what the rest of the weekend holds for me… we’ll see… hehe
